As your big day approaches there are a number of logistical questions that you’ll want answering so that you can sort out the timetable of your wedding.
One of the questions that Carte Blanche often get asked – and it has an answer in our Frequently Asked Questions section – is how long does it take us to set up our live band and then perform a thorough soundcheck so that we are ready to provide live music for the party section of the wedding.
There’s no direct answer for this question because every venue and every wedding is different. But here are some rules of thumb:
- Assuming that the load in is reasonably straight forward and the distance to carry the equipment is not too great, it takes about 45-50 minutes to set up.
- Once set up it takes around 20-25 minutes to sound check the band and set levels for the different instruments.
Factors That Affect These Times
Sometimes Carte Blanche are booked as a bigger band – an 8 or a 9 piece. Having a bigger band means more equipment to carry and set up – and more time needed to sound check.
The other factor that has the biggest effect on set up time is the physical distance from where we can unload our vehicles to where we are going to be performing.
Summary
Set up times for a live band like Carte Blanche can vary from event to event. As a rule of thumb 65/70 minutes is a good amount to allow for setting equipment up and performing a thorough sound check.
