We’ve written before about the pluses and minuses of booking a DJ for your wedding.

Why Should I Book A Live Band And Not a DJ
There’s one scenario in that linked article where you absolutely should book a DJ and not a live band. And that scenario is if your budget is less than a £1000 and there’s no chance of stretching it to the levels needed to get a good professional band.
If that is truly the extent of your budget then you’ll get the best value out of that budget by booking a good DJ. Any band that you can find for less than £1000 are likely semi-professional – and likely not particularly good either.
About six years ago one of musicians told us a story of a wedding he played at for another band. As the band were preparing to go on for their third and final set the bride walked over and said to them:
“Please can you keep the pre-recorded music on, as when you play you’re ruining my wedding.”
Booking a live band for your wedding should be the icing on the cake – not something that ruins your big day. So if you don’t have the budget to get a great band, then book a DJ instead. (And you won’t hear me advise that often!)
